Thanet Winter Shelter

What We Do

The Thanet Winter Shelter aims to make a big difference to the lives of people in circumstances beyond their control and who find themselves rough-sleeping homeless.

A golden opportunity during a difficult year

This year for the first time ever Thanet Winter Shelter will provide relief from the cold from one central Thanet location and be open to guests 24 hours a day. This means that people do not have to return to the streets during the day time and will instead have shelter, food and access to support services and meaningful activities throughout the day. This will provide a continual environment for guests to start building trust in others, self- esteem and take the first steps in rebuilding challenging lives.

I am so thankful for the shelter.  I don’t know how I would have survived a winter on the streets.  the help that they gave me has really helped me to get my life back on track.

What I like about helping at the Winter Shelter is how friendly everyone is.  The community spirit is great and sometimes I walk away wondering whether I have helped or been helped.  I can’t wait for this year’s shelter to open up again.
